Award-winning theater simple is back from Seattle, USA for their THIRD Adelaide Fringe with The Foreign Legion 2000.

Fringe favorites theater simple return to Adelaide with friends from North America! 


the past

In 1998, theater simple, 1996 winner of the Fringe Award for Excellence (awarded by the Adelaide Advertiser and the Independent Arts Council
of South Australia) got together a group of highly regarded artists from the Fringe in North America and convinced them to travel halfway
around the world. The enticement: summer in Australia is winter in North America(!) and to perform at the largest arts festival in the Southern
Hemisphere. 

theater simple’s venue: The Foreign Legion - two stages in a converted Goth-rock club - one of which had to be built up a narrow staircase in an
unairconditioned upper floor.

The Foreign Legion SWEPT all three Best Play awards in 1998:

The Master & Margarita -adapted from the novel by theater simple
and The Chocolate Quarry written and performed by Stephen Rappaport

and we’re coming back for 2000! 


the future

This year we’re performing in a converted rock - n - roll club (CARTOONS!) and here’s the next ALL STAR LINEUP:

EXPLOSIVE THEATER from NORTH AMERICA - The Foreign Legion 2000

          theater simple is back with TWO MORE BIG adaptations in collaboration with Ghostlight from San Francisco. Hunting
          for MOBY DICK adapted from the writings of Herman Melville and Hard Times adapted from Charles Dickens. 
          Mycelium Productions returns with Virtual Solitaire written and performed by Dawson Nichols ("I Might Be Edgar Allan
          Poe") 
          One World Theatre(also from Seattle) is coming along with QUIXOTE adapted from Cervantes and Mirette and Bellini 
          Big Sandwich Productions from Vancouver, Canada saves us from being the all-Seattle venue with LABRADOR, written
          and performed by TJ Dawe. 

and we’re going to be one of the BEST VALUES at the Fringe as well - 

          ALL OPENING NIGHTS - $10 ALL TUESDAY EVENINGS - $12
