SA Writer's Theatre

 

"TIME GENTLEMEN PLEASE"

Written and Directed by Brian Fox

Characters meet in a pub - Dan (54)the bar fly who never leaves, but who talks of getting work; his pal Dickie (38)who keeps his girlfriend on a long-standing promise of marriage; Dervla (35)the frustrated girlfriend who longs for marriage and stability; Cliona (35)her friend who gets pregnant because her body clock is running and she wants to start a new life; Becky (55), Clion's mother who is scandalised by her daughter's condition and attitude; Annie (58), Becky's friend who has a love/hate relationship with the vitriolic Becky and Tony (40), the long-suffering barman. Comedy and tragedy played out in the confines of the pub and its adjacent snug.

This is a closed workshop session for SAWT writers and members. Actors selected will get script in advance and should be good sight readers. One rehearsal only, immediately prior to Workshop.

Hills Musical Company

 

"A CHORUS LINE"

Director Marcus Roberts

Dancers audition for parts in the chorus of a Broadway show. As they make it through the audition they open up to the director and to each other, and talk of their loves, hates, ambitions, childhoods, families and careers. At the end of the show eight successful auditioners are picked and then a final glitzy song and dance number is performed by the entire cast.

A core cast of 19, and a "chorus" of 7 to 15. All must sing, and dancers preferred, but not expected.

Stage ages: 17 to 40. Most cast are 17-28, a couple of parts (male and female) can go up to 40. Included in the cast is a male African-American, and a 4'10" Asian female, so if you fit the part or know someone that does, please come along.
