Our New Venue!

The Domain, Marion Cultural Centre
situated on Diagonal Road, north of Westfield Marion

This new facility replaces the Pioneer Hall which Galleon used for so many years. The Domain incorporates the Marion Library, Meeting Rooms, Gallery and the flexible performance venue called the Domain Theatre which Galleon has used since the beginning of 2002.

The AGM was held on Tuesday 4 February 2003, and elected the following committee:

President: Kym Clayton
Secretary: Trudy Pearce
Treasurer: Andrew Clark
Committee: Trish Phillips, Christine Otto, Leanne Robinson, Wendy Mildren, Bruce Mildren
(Jeff Phillips and Tom Anderson were subsequently coopted)

Only four members of the outgoing committee have continued in office. Galleon’s Public Officer Kevin Hodgson paid tribute to those who stepped down from active committee work and noted that they have collectively provided more than one hundred years of service to the society! Out-going President Margaret Dixon deservedly rated a special mention. She has been the ‘mainstay’ of the group for many years, having fulfilled a wide variety of roles from playwright to publicist to box office to actor. Other retiring stalwarts include Betty and Stan Fairfield, Jean McCormick and Margaret Hall.
